I've tried every product for my dark circles—this one finally worked

I’ve had dark circles since I was five. And in fifth grade, when a teacher asked me for the hundredth time if I was getting enough sleep, I stole my mom’s anti-aging concealer from the drugstore and have never looked back. In college—when I really wasn’t getting enough sleep—I began my search for the perfect product for my dark circles. I wanted a natural look, last all day, and something that felt good on my skin. Since then, I’ve tried dozens of serums, creams, and concealers. Some were okay, but most left me feeling oily, cakey, wrinkled, or underwhelmed. And I never really found the ultimate product. Until TikTok introduced me to Colleen Rothschild’s Illuminating Tinted Eye Cream—could this be the one? I tested it, here are my thoughts.

About My Skin

I have sensitive, combination, and acne-prone skin (every girl’s dream, I know). No makeup artist, no beauty counter clerk, and no friend who’s constantly online could pinpoint my undertone, so I’ve always gone with neutral. Is that true? I have no idea. And the skin around my eyes is thin, almost transparent, and very sensitive to products and makeup. This area in particular tends to get patchy and dry in the winter and oily in the summer, so my standards are very high.

About the Illuminating Tinted Eye Cream

What sets Colleen Rothschild’s eye cream apart from the dozens of other products I’ve tried is that it’s a hydrating eye cream that neutralizes dark circles—not a concealer that will just make my skin look darker, drier, or more tired when I take it off. Made with hyaluronic acid and caffeine, the Illuminating Tinted Eye Cream is designed to target common under-eye concerns like dark circles, fine lines, and puffiness. It’s lightweight enough to wear under makeup or on its own. Plus, its pearlescent pigments create a subtle shimmer that brightens skin, and its peachy pigments neutralize those stubborn blue undertones that make your eye area look dark.

The Verdict

I’m the type of person who would fail the Stanford Marshmallow Experiment every time, so I opened the eye cream as soon as it arrived on my doorstep. It was late afternoon, and I washed and dried my face with my tried-and-tested beauty product pessimism. You can skip the brushes and sponges, this is a convenient product, in every sense of the word. After some research (scrolling through TikTok), I found that it’s best to apply it with your finger and start with a very small amount. I carefully applied the product, as I’ve seen a dozen influencers do before me. And I immediately perked up.

It took clean skin, a pea-sized amount of this peachy eye cream, and a few taps of my finger to make nearly 25 years of “are you OK?” comments from family, friends, and employers disappear. Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t have the full coverage of a concealer. But once it sinks into the skin, it gives me that perfectly refreshed, off-duty model glow I’ve been looking for my entire life. And it looks and feels like luxury skincare.

This luminous tinted eye cream is now one of the few products I always carry with me. I’ve introduced it to friends and family of all ages and skin types. And when I’m packing just the essentials for a weekend getaway or day trip, it’s always the go-to. It’s the “your skin, only better” product I’ve been looking for since I was a teenager.

The Price

I’ve probably spent hundreds on concealers, serums, and creams (I’m not doing the math). I’ve considered Botox and bought myself a lot of weird gadgets. While not as cheap as the drugstore, this $48 eye cream is surprisingly affordable—and if you use the code EVERYGIRL20, it’s under $40. Not only does it reduce the number of tubes of concealer I need to buy to almost zero, but it requires so little product that I’m sure it’ll be past its 12-month expiration date by the time I finish this tube. For me, spending less than $50 a year on an under-eye product that WORKS is a no-brainer.

“I completely understand why this product went viral – it does exactly what it says. It completely removes every trace of makeup without the need forsser is needed; a damp towel is enough. The texture is like raw shea butter: thick and buttery, and you don’t need to use much to get skin-softening results. I can tell it really works because when I use an exfoliating pad afterward, there’s barely any makeup left.”

“The exfoliating pads instantly made my skin smoother and brighter. The smell is soothing – probably because of the blue agave – and the pads are thin, soft, and supple. My face felt clean and refreshed, free of makeup, oil, etc. And I like that as an exfoliator, it still felt moisturizing and didn’t feel like it was drying out my skin. Plus, I feel like my fine lines were a little less visible after using them.”

“I can’t stop using this product! I’m picky about oils because I use it alone, over a moisturizer for extra moisture, and for facial massages. I want an oil that doesn’t feel sticky or heavy and doesn’t make my other products fluff. This one is perfect. It leaves my skin hydrated and glowing, so I’m obsessed with it. I reach for it multiple times a day because I love it so much. Plus, it absorbs beautifully into my skin instead of just sitting on top.”

“With the introduction of Facial Oil #9 and Extreme Recovery Cream, I’ve been able to easily reintroduce harsher retinols into my evening routine. I love the scent of Extreme Recovery Cream as well as the texture. It has a deeply hydrating effect with a lighter, foamy texture and a light but luxurious scent. My husband and little boys have told me I smell really good after using it, which is a huge compliment coming from them! “

“I’ve been using the Extreme Recovery Cream and Bio-Azure Replenishing Oil together at night and the results are amazing. In the morning my skin feels SO hydrated and smooth. The oil has an interesting scent that took me a while to get used to, but my friend said it reminded her of a spa we went to and I’ve been hooked ever since.”
